Using Doubland
Doubland is operated by Doubland, Inc., a Delaware corporation, 755 Parkview Boulevard, Pittsburgh, PA 15215 ("Doubland," "we," "us"). You can reach us at help@doubland.ai.
These terms apply when you use the Doubland website, create a Double or take part in a simulation. By using Doubland you agree to these terms and to our Privacy Policy. If you do not agree, do not use the service.
You must be at least 18 years old to use Doubland. If we learn that a user is under 18, we will close the account and delete its data.
An invite-only service in development
Doubland is in beta. Features, access and simulations may change, pause, restart or end. A request for access or an invitation does not guarantee a place in a simulation.
Doubland is invite-only. Join only with an invitation, and invite only adults aged 18 or older who want to join. If you organize a group as a showrunner, the Showrunner Terms also apply to you.
Do not rely on the service as your only copy of important information.
Your account
Use an email address you control and keep your sign-in links private. Create only your own Double and answer onboarding questions about yourself, not someone else.
You cannot accept these terms for anyone else or consent to the use of anyone else's likeness. Each person decides for themselves.
Do not access another person's account or impersonate anyone. Email help@doubland.ai if you believe your account has been used without your permission.
AI and simulated behavior
Doubles and their responses are generated by AI. They can be inaccurate, unexpected or inappropriate. A Double's words and actions are simulated and do not reflect the real person's actual views, choices or intentions.
Doubland is entertainment. Doubles and events are AI-generated fiction, not predictions of real outcomes, and not professional, medical, psychological or financial advice.
If you are in crisis or thinking about harming yourself, contact local emergency services, or call or text 988 in the United States.
Your Double and your likeness
Your Double is an AI character based on the name, photo and answers you provide. Only submit content you have the right to use, and use your own photo and information.
By creating a Double, you allow Doubland to use it inside Doubland. This includes AI-generated words and actions you did not actually say or do. Your Double may appear in the simulations you join, alongside other people's Doubles, and in trailers made for the people in those simulations. Those people may save or share trailers they appear in.
Open simulations are public. Before you join an open simulation, we tell you clearly that it is public and ask you to agree. By joining one, you allow Doubland to show your Double, its name, appearance, activity and the content it generates, to anyone. That includes the live simulation, public trailers, and Doubland's website and social accounts.
Private simulations are not public by default. Only the people in them can see them. When you join a private simulation, you agree that its showrunner may later make it public. Before a private simulation goes public, we notify every member at least 7 days in advance and give you a way to leave the simulation or remove your Double first. If you stay in the simulation after it goes public, your Double is shown publicly as described above for open simulations. Content made while the simulation was private stays private unless you agree otherwise.
You can withdraw from public use at any time by leaving the public simulation or turning off public use in your settings. We then stop new public use right away and remove existing public content featuring your Double from Doubland's own website and social accounts within 30 days. We cannot recall copies that others have already downloaded or reposted.
If you have not agreed to public use, or you have withdrawn it, your Double will not appear identifiably in public content. At most it may appear as an unnamed background extra with no name, lines or recognizable features, or the scene is cut.
Agreeing to public use never means agreeing to advertise. We never show your Double using, endorsing or promoting a sponsored product unless you have opted in to that specific use.
You keep any ownership rights you have in what you submit. Doubland owns the simulations, trailers and other output the service generates, subject to the limits in this section on how your likeness is used.
Sponsored content
Some items, stores or scenes in Doubland may be sponsored by brands. We label sponsored content as sponsored.
We never show your Double using, endorsing or promoting a sponsored product unless you have opted in to that specific use.
Acceptable use
Use Doubland in a way that respects other people and the service. Doubland may remove content, limit features, move a Double out of a simulation, or suspend or close an account that breaks these rules.
- Do not harass, threaten or expose another person's private information.
- Do not bring real people who are not members into a simulation, for example by naming or describing them in prompts.
- Do not create sexual content involving any Double, or content showing a real person's Double committing crimes.
- Do not submit unlawful content or infringe another person's rights.
- Do not use the service to mislead others about a real person's identity or actions.
- Do not upload malicious files, scrape the service, disrupt it or bypass access restrictions.
Moving out, leaving and deleting your Double
A place in a simulation is a limited, revocable permission to take part. It is not property, and it is not permanent. Doubland may move a Double out of a simulation, for example after inactivity or to make room for new residents.
Moving out of a simulation is not deletion. Your Double stays on your account, and you can move it into another simulation.
You can stop using Doubland at any time. Signing out does not delete your account. To delete your Double or your account, email help@doubland.ai with the subject "Delete my Double," or use the in-app option when available. The Privacy Policy explains what we delete and when.
If an account has no sign-in for 24 months, we will email a warning at least 30 days before deleting it.
Reporting content and takedowns
To report content that misrepresents you, infringes your copyright or breaks these terms, email help@doubland.ai with the subject "Takedown." Include where the content appears and why it should be removed.
We aim to remove intimate images or sexual deepfakes of a real person within 48 hours of a valid request.
Disclaimers and limits of liability
Doubland is provided "as is" and "as available." To the extent the law allows, we disclaim all warranties, including warranties of merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, accuracy and non-infringement.
To the extent the law allows, Doubland will not be liable for indirect, incidental, special, consequential or punitive damages, or for lost profits, data or goodwill. Our total liability for any claim relating to the service is limited to the greater of 100 US dollars or the amount you paid us in the 12 months before the claim.
You agree to cover reasonable losses and costs Doubland incurs because of content you submit or your violation of these terms, to the extent the law allows.
Nothing in these terms takes away rights you have under laws that cannot be waived.
Governing law
These terms are governed by the laws of the State of Delaware, without regard to conflict-of-laws rules. Disputes will be resolved in the state or federal courts located in Delaware, unless the law where you live gives you the right to bring a claim in your local courts.
Questions and changes
Email help@doubland.ai with questions or to report a problem. Do not share sign-in links or private account information in a public post.
We may update these terms as Doubland develops. We will give at least 7 days' notice of material changes by email or in the app. The date above shows the latest revision. If you keep using Doubland after a change takes effect, you accept the updated terms.
